Michael Benjamin Lerner of Telekenesis. His new album Domarion isn’t out until Tuesday (4/2) on Merge Records, but if you can’t wait until then you can stream the entire album over on NPR!
Check out the fantastic video for “Ghosts and Creatures”, which is one of my personal favorite singles of the year so far:
Terry Price of Photo Ops, formerly from Oblio. His debut under the Photo Ops moniker, How to Say Goodbye, dropped a few weeks ago on Gate 5 and has quickly become one of my most played releases of the year.
Check out my favorite track from the album, “You Said You Were”, below and be sure to grab the entire album wherever you buy music. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Jeremy Quentin of Small Houses. His brand new album Exactly Where You Wanted To Be is out TOMORROW (2/26) on the always excellent Yer Bird Records! I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of the album, and it’s been on constant rotation for the past two weeks. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Check out “Oh, Hiding Out” below, and be sure to grab the whole album wherever you buy music.
Julian Ducatenzeiler of Blackfeet Braves. Their brand new (and quite fantastic) self-titled album is out tomorrow (2/12) on Lolipop Records. RECOMMENDED!

The Sound and The Furry’s Favorites of 2012List will continue over the coming week. This will include favorite albums, EPs, tracks, videos, and my pick for “Band to Watch”. The list will culminate with a 22-track Favorites of 2012 downloadable mix featuring a track from each of the incredibly amazing bands on this list.
Check out my favorite Cobalt track “You Left Your Sweater…” below, and if anyone is gonna be in the Washington DC area Sunday night (8/10), y’all should join me at DC9 for a superfun time with Cobalt & the Hired Guns and Orchard Wall - I’ll be there with my beard on!
Michael Ryan Pedron of Conveyor. Their much anticipated self-titled debut album is brand new this week (on one of my favorite labels) Paper Garden Records! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Check out “Woolgatherer” below, then be sure to grab the entire album wherever you buy music!
Daughn Gibson. His 2012 album All Hell is out now on White Denim. Pitchfork gave the album an 8.1, which is the first time this blogger has agreed with Pitchfork in years. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Check out two tracks from Daughn - “Looking Back on ‘99” (from All Hell ) and “Lite Me Up” (from his new 7” of the same name) below:
Daughn Gibson. His new album All Hell dropped earlier this month and is out now on White Denim Records. It’s one of the most unusual, striking and memorable debuts I’ve heard in a long time, which is why it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Check out “In The Beginning” below, then make sure All Hell is on your “must buy” list:
